My college oil painting teacher, Marilyn Taus, was a talented artist and an incredibly patient instructor; always open-minded and understanding of our abilities. She was honest as well, always managing to critique our work without making it seem personal. Under her instruction I turned out what is still the best work I've ever done.

The best example I could find of her art is here; unfortunately, that file doesn't even come close to doing it justice. She did fantastic, unique paintings of landscapes in wild colors that should have clashed but somehow worked just right together.

It was to my great sadness that I recently learned of her passing in February. She had been fighting cancer for 15 years.

I'm not sure what this writing is meant to accomplish. I just wanted to somehow make note.
